Obviously, ambidextrous safety is ultimately necessary out of the box. My GI would take drilling the frame in order to install an ambi. I'm not willing to drill the frame on a stock gun so the ambi was welcome.

If you have a springfield GI, you dont need to drill the frame to install an ambi safety; it's a standard mod, and a semi drop in fit (sometimes the safety lug needs a bit of filing).
You will need to change your grip panels as the GI grip panels are not relief cut for the ambi safety.
