Just Out of Curiosity - Survey

From the Old Man:

Specifically directed to Ben's Blogroll, but other feel free.

What State do you shoot in?

How many rounds rifle/pistol do you shoot in a month? (Best Month).

Do you shoot at a formal range or other?

How far do you drive to shoot?

Any other info you want to throw in, what you would like to have that you don't etc.

Comments:
Ok. Here goes.

I live in the People's republic of Maryland.

My best months were a few years ago before I had a heavy travel job. I was averaging around 1500 rounds a month. Now I am lucky to get 500... But I intend to change that.

Formal ranges as this is the PRoMD.

Ft. Meade is 5 minutes away, my pistol range is 5 minutes away, and the other range that I shoot at is 35 minutes away and 200 yards.

I have no real excuse now for not shooting more.

Arizona

Me: 200 to 300 rounds each of rifle, pistol, and shotgun. Total between 600 and 1000 per month.

The kids: Now that I'm taking 3 kids to the range with me every time, they average 1000 .22LR, 600 .223, 250 20 gauge, 200 .38 special, and 200 .45 acp per month.

Formal range. I split my time between instruction, shooting, and being an RSO.

43.5 miles from my driveway to the range.

I live and shoot in Florida

I shoot about 200 rounds twice a month, or 400 rounds a month. Caliber varries. Best months were a few years back when I lived in Cincinnati and worked around the corner from an indoor range. Could go at lunch or after work and forget about work-related stress. (There was a lot) I also belonged to a club that had several ranges (plinking, 250 yards, bullseye pistol, and a 600 yard range - that I never used... It was a good club if out of the way.

I shoot at an indoor range run by and for the St. Petersburg Police. It is open to the public on very strange schedule, but it is modern and close.

This range is less than 10 miles away

Living on a boat doesn't give me much room for shooting sports stuff. But it is still better than living ashore.

Arizona (The Real Sunshine State)

This month: 300 rounds pistol & rifle, 150 rounds shotgun

I shoot at the best ranges on the planet! (Ben Avery monthly, Rio Salado annually) There is a range a mile from my house, but I dislike shooting alone.

I drive 2.5 hours (usually overnighting at a friend's house) from the far side of Tucson to the far side of Phoenix.

I usually shoot Glock .40, Bushie .223 and Rem 1100 riotgun, but this year I'm doing .45 revo and pump riotgun for giggles. Next year, Limited 10 with my project singlestack .45.

Wish List: Springfield M1A or Bushmaster .308 carbine

I'll take a swing at your questions.

1) I shoot in New Hampshire usually, but when winter's done, I shoot trap in Massachusetts. Bill and I are members of a gun club dating back from when we lived in that foul state. The club has decent shotgun facilities though.

2) Rifle and pistol rounds per month varies. During the winter, I'm in a .22 caliber pistol bullseye league, plus I practice rifle and larger caliber pistol shooting. So, during winter I shoot about 500 pistol rounds, mostly .22. In other seasons, its about 300 rounds, with fewer .22s. After winter's over, I shoot about 300 shotgun rounds per month as well.

3) I shoot mainly at formal ranges. Too many people here to go out in the woods unless we wanted to drive a ways.

4) For pistol and rifle shooting, we drive either 1 mile or 12 miles one way depending on which range we choose. For shotgun, it's about 10 miles.

We reload most of our pistol ammo and all of our shotgun ammo. We'd like to shoot more, but work calls and there's only so much time on the weekends. Thanks,
Denise

What State do you shoot in?

Virginia at the NRA Range and in Georgia at Shinbone Ridge

How many rounds rifle/pistol do you shoot in a month? (Best Month).

Pistol - a whole heck of a lot (2000?)

Rifle - 3-4,000 (22lr)
- 2-300 (unless I am shooting the SAR)

Do you shoot at a formal range or other?

Both. The NRA is a formal range and Shinbone Ridge is a dedicated range but is only having the creature comforts built now. I also shoot off of my deck - very informal like

How far do you drive to shoot?

If in Virginia - 15 minutes to the NRA.

If in Georgia - 5 feet to the bench on my deck or 10 minutes to Shinbone Ridge (depending on whether the wife's hoime or not)

Any other info you want to throw in, what you would like to have that you don't

Not really. I'd like to get more military surplus stuff and would like to get an A-Bolt and maybe a pre-64 Model 70 (I almost bought one a few years ago for a steal of a price and still kick myself for passing it up).

There are also a number of top fashion models I'd like to try, but since my wife might read this, I won't go into detail.

Hey, you have a great blog here! I'm definitely going to bookmark you!

I have a online survey site/blog. It pretty much covers online survey related stuff.

Come and check it out if you get time :-)
